Processing of thermosetting plastics

Components made of thermosetting plastics have shown a dramatic increase in popularity for some years now.

The advantages of these materials, such as extraordinary strength and dimensional stability under conditions of sustained high temperatures in use and economically beneficial processing options open up interesting new applications. It is increasingly of interest to substitute them for the kinds of materials used up until now, especially if complex geometries are involved.

The processing options are for:

  • the injection moulding of free-flowing granular PF masses and BMC wet polyesters. The spectrum comprises machines with locking forces of from 500 kN up to 3,000 kN, corresponding to parts with weights from 1.0 g up to 800 g. Robotic systems to remove the products from the mould or to handle installation processes are provided directly at the machine.
  • the pressing of free-flowing granular materials in machines with locking forces of from 500 kN up to 1,000 kN.

The procedures offer a comprehensive range of possibilities for the encapsulation of metal parts, threaded pins and sockets.
